Regulator type
Some cylinders use clip-on regulators and others use screw-fit regulators. A clear photo of the current regulator normally makes matching easier.
Gas fittings guide
Home bottled gas can be confusing: clip-on regulators, screw-fit valves, patio gas, butane, propane, hoses and different appliance labels. This guide helps Dublin home users know what details to send before ordering.
What matters
For most home users the important parts are the gas type, the regulator connection, the hose condition and whether the appliance is suitable for propane, butane or patio gas.
Some cylinders use clip-on regulators and others use screw-fit regulators. A clear photo of the current regulator normally makes matching easier.
Do not use cracked, loose, burnt, hardened or damaged hoses. If the hose looks questionable, stop and get it checked before using the appliance.
The appliance label often shows the approved gas type and pressure. Send a photo of it if you are unsure which cylinder or fitting is needed.
If you smell gas, turn the cylinder off if safe, keep flames and switches away, ventilate the area and get qualified help. Do not keep testing it.
Usually matched with a butane clip-on regulator for compatible portable cabinet heaters and similar appliances.
Often matched with a patio propane clip-on regulator. Send a photo if the appliance or old bottle is not clear.
Common for 10.89KG, 19KG, 34KG and 47KG propane cylinders. Fixed appliances need qualified assessment.
Shows approved gas type, pressure, model number and any appliance-specific requirements.
Show the full regulator, hose and bottle connection so similar-looking fittings can be told apart.
Show the top of the old cylinder if you have one, including the valve and any visible bottle label.
The Gas Guy Dublin can help identify likely cylinder and fitting requirements from photos. Any fixed appliance installation, repair, alteration or unsafe setup should be handled by a suitably qualified gas professional.
Do not keep testing the appliance. Follow these LPG cylinder safety steps if it is safe to do so:
For Flogas LPG cylinders call 041 214 9600. For Calor ROI cylinders call 01 291 6229. For mains natural gas call Gas Networks Ireland on 1800 20 50 50.

Common home setups
These examples help narrow the conversation before you order. If the appliance has a regulator already fitted, send a photo of it with the cylinder connection visible.
Often uses patio gas with a patio propane clip-on regulator. The appliance label and existing connection decide what is suitable.
Often uses butane with a butane clip-on regulator. Check the appliance label before changing cylinder type or regulator.
Propane screw-fit regulators are common for 10.89KG, 19KG, 34KG and 47KG cylinders. Fixed appliances need professional assessment.
Gaslight 5KG and 10KG commonly match a patio-style propane clip-on regulator. Send photos so the connection can be checked.
Before you order
A few photos usually avoid the wrong bottle arriving. This is especially useful when replacing an old cylinder, switching from one gas type to another, or ordering for a rented appliance.
Look for gas type, pressure, model number and any safety markings. Do not remove panels or dismantle the appliance to get it.
Show the full regulator, connection and hose route. This helps identify clip-on, screw-fit and similar-looking connections.
Send the cylinder size, colour and valve connection if there is an old bottle already there.
Tell us if it is for a BBQ, patio heater, mobile heater, cooker, food trailer, shed, site or commercial setting.
Helpful checks
Most problems come from guessing the bottle type, reusing old hoses, or assuming every regulator fits every cylinder. These checks help customers order with better information.
Only if the appliance is approved for it and the correct regulator is used. Send the appliance label before changing gas type.
Yes. Send clear photos of the appliance label, current regulator and bottle valve before ordering.
Most bottle prices assume an empty exchange. The order form lets you choose with or without an empty cylinder.
Yes. Flogas dealers will generally accept competitor empties (including Calor) when you buy a full Flogas bottle — which may mean no new bottle deposit in many cases. Check valve compatibility first: Gaslight uses 27 mm clip-on; many Calor bottles use 21 mm clip-on or POL screw-in. You may need a new regulator. Tell us the empty brand when ordering for doorstep exchange delivery.
Simple bottle exchange depends on the setup. Fixed appliances, repairs, conversions and unsafe fittings need a qualified gas professional.
Not sure what fitting you have?
Send a photo of the appliance, label, current regulator and bottle connection. We can help you choose the right gas bottle and flag when a qualified gas professional should inspect the setup.
